His Tight Lips Aren't Sinking Ships

I got a pocket, got a pocket full of sunshine! I got a love and I know that it's all mine. Ooohhh... Take me away, a secret place, a sweet escape. Take me away. Take me away to better days! Take me away... A Pocketfull of Sunshine by Natasha Beddingfield
So, I blogged before that Steve and I were going on a sweet escape when my mom arrives here in July. Needless to say, I have always loved surprises, just not the waiting that comes with them sometimes! So, I have been subtley trying to get Steve to "accidentally" reveal some information because I can't wait any longer and I am too excited!!

But, his tight lips aren't sinking any ships.

I remember before I was married, a friend of mine who was still a newlywed said that you seriously had to make time to kiss (to really kiss) your husband. I didn't believe her. How could that be?.
But unfortunately I have found it to be true. Don't get me wrong, I give him a kiss every morning as he leaves for work and most days when he returns from work. But, that kiss, that kiss that makes me melt only happens, when...every few days, once a week...it just depends on life and how busy we are. Sometimes Steve and Tiercy get lost to Mommy and Daddy.

But on our excursion, only two are invited; that's me and you, the two of us that make a we, only Steve and Tiercy.
And I can't wait!

History Does Repeat Itself!

Yesterday, as I was making my children peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner, I was contemplating the dinner that Steve and I were going to be having just a half an hour later. We had decided to go Mexican so I was salivating for chips and salsa, horchata, and chicken enchiladas with rice and beans.
I think I was a little mesmerized by the motion of spreading the peanut butter, because suddenly, out of nowhere, I realized that I was doing the same thing that I always teased my mom about: feeding the children peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while she went out on a date for a $100 dinner.

While Steve and I weren't going that expensive, the point is the same: we were having a nicer dinner . Thanks Steve for our date! I love spending time with you and thoroughly enjoyed the driving range and our scenic, golf course drive at sunset in the golf cart.

Sorry mom! I guess I can't tease you any more!

Girls Camp Again

These are the beautiful girls that I was able to spend 4 days with last week.

I've already talked about the rain in a previous post, so enough said.

It took months of planning, but Girls Camp finally culminated in many awesome experiences and a great time for everyone.

I was able to focus on my relationship with my Heavenly Father and his other beautiful daughters.

Highlights for me included quiet time, campfire songs, playing Big Booty, and eating some very delicious food (thanks Celeste), the skits, and laughing deliriously at bedtime with the leaders.

It's BUNKO Time!

I love Bunko and have finally found a friend who loves the game as much as I do!! Yahoo!! So, she and I are both starting a Bunko group in our neighborhood. Finally! I didn't realize how much I missed it until the possilbility of playing it is so close at my fingertips.

For those of you who don't know, Bunko is simply a wild and crazy, very easy to play dice game! It's so easy that you don't have to concentrate too hard and can therefore laugh the entire time you are playing. This is quite possibly, in my opinion, the best girl's night ever.

Does anyone want to play or be a sub? It's really fun and we have cookies!

I can't wait until next Thursday!!

P.S. Husband, you are in NO uncertain terms, NOT allowed to comment on this post. (Said with love.)

Girls Camp Evacuated Due to Rain

I survived my first Girl's Camp!! It was an awesome experience (okay, I'm not going to lie...so, it was a great experience except for the camping part.)!! It drizzled off and on for the first two days. I could handle that. But, Wednesday morning we woke up to freezing cold rain on us and snow on the mountains that weren't too far from us. Boy was I glad when we decided to take the girls to the YW president's cabin in American fork. (We stayed there for youth conference in October.)

Here are some onliners from camp that had us laughing (for the most part) so hard:
  • Kaylee: My tummy hurts. Mikki: You'll be okay when we get there. Kaylee-smiling: No, I have toots and I'm holding them in. A little while later the window goes down.
  • You're blocking my heat you skinny twig. (Kelly [a leader]to Paige)
  • Depends on the size of the tongue. (Mykel referring to Kelly's tootsie roll hat: How many licks does it take?)
  • This is killing me! Somebody help her! (Bishop about his daughter [our newest Beehive] and her wide-eyed innocent belief that snipes really do exist.
  • Kelly to Lindsey (both leaders): You look like my fun! Kelly laughing: I meant to say, "You look like my son," instead I said, "Effa." (She meant to say the letter f but her tongue got caught on her braces.
  • You're going to leave here a redneck, and I can't promise that there wont 'be any marrigal problems. (Kolter to Tiercy - for an explanation, read Utah I Just Dont Fit In)
  • If you have a gun, you don't need food storage. (Kolter)
  • This isn't wrappergate. (Bishop to Tiercy when I got a little frustrated because the girls were throwing empty candy wrappers back in the bag. I saw one pack of peanut M&Ms, my favorite, left and was excited, but it was the darn empty wrapper. I then proceeded to get a little more frustrated when I saw even more empty candy wrappers on the side table and not in the trash! (BTW - we had just talked to the girls about picking up after themselves!)

A Birthday for Laney

Yep...two years ago I was in such agony with the contractions I wasn't suppose to have...oh wait, this isn't about me. (sigh)

Laney turned two today. We've had an incredibly busy day today and I am still have a lot to do. So, here are a few pictures of my cutie as she enjoys her special day. Highlights of her day included: our birthday celebration breakfast, her cousin Alex's baptism, eating lots of yummy food afterwards, shopping, playing, and having dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. opening the presents, and playing with them after.

I usually have fun as I try to make fun cakes for her. I loved her ladybug cake from last year, but this year's flower cake leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe if I'd had food coloring...oh well, better luck next year. (She's eating one of the petals in the picture.) Acutally she didn't really eat her cake this year either. I think she didn't like the homemade icing. (Don't worry Laney, I'm not offended, I don't like it either.)

I love you baby girl and can't wait to see what this year holds for you!
