Comments

That was then...When I first became addicted to blogging, I was well addicted. Wanting to delay the inevitable cleaning of my house, checking the blogs gave me the perfect excuse to wait. I always wanted to know if any one had a new post on their blog, and...more importantly, I wanted to know if there were any comments on mine. Because after all, everything I posted was so thought provoking that I am sure it created in people the strongest desire to want to write a comment. JK

This is now...because I am surrounded by people who are much more clever and witty than I could ever be, comments have a new meaning. Now I love the running dialog that has happened with the comment section of a friend's blog and my husband's blog. In some cases, they are even more funny than the original post itself. Just check it out for yourself.

Letters

Letters to Our Friends and Family
(I saw this format on my very smart cousin's blog. Thanks for letting me postlift Em.)

Dear Tyler,
Thank you for being such a great big brother! I know you didn't see me, but I saw you with your arm around brother's shoulders as the bus drove by our house this morning. I didn't know then that Ethan had fallen and gotten hurt. It was a poignant moment for me.

Dear Ethan,
I am sorry for the bad decision that you made to take the gum today. You knew the consequences when you made that decision and I have to stick with it. There will be another city Easter Egg Hunt next year.

Dear Blender,
Thank you for making the best smooties Steve and I could ask for.

Dear Steve,
I am sorry that you are sick. I love you and hope that you get better soon. The family has been praying for you.

Dear Mom,
You are in our prayers. We know the brain tumor isn't an ideal trial, but remember to rely on the Lord and all will be well. We love you.

Dear Laney,
Could you please wake up any later than 6:20 a.m.?

Dear Easter Bunny,
I am sorry that Tyler cornered me and found out the truth. But, I told him if he didn't "believe" then you won't bring him a basket. He has done a great job for the little siblings and is looking forward to helping Mom play Easter Bunny.

Dear Tyler,
Well it had to happen sometime. I know your progress report today wasn't the stellar one you are used to and that you are sad about it. Just remember to try a little harder next week.

Dear Ethan,
Thank you for not taking any food this week (unitl today). It has been the most enjoyable week for me with you. Thanks for playing with me.

Dear left calve and right foot,
Thank you so much for cooperating today so I could go running for the first time in over 3 weeks. I was a little worried. I know you are still a little tender, but I promise to pamper you tonight.

Dear Paige,
Have a great trip. I always enjoy our phone conversations. And I miss you soooo much. Thanks for making me laugh and being such a great aunt.

Dear Wal Mart and Costco,
Thanks so much for your donations for our fundraiser for Girl's Camp. Every little bit helps. Thank you Heavenly Father for answering this prayer.

Dear Family,
Thanks for letting me be me. I love you and are glad we are an eternal family.

She's Getting a Reputation

So, I was at Costco the other day and ran into our new Food Specialist for Girls Camp. She had just been called this previous Sunday. (I didn't really know her at all but am excited to get to know her.) And the first thing she says after saying hi is, "Alayna is yours! She is so sweet and such a perfect angel!" I must have given her a perplexed look that said: How could you know that, I really only met you yesterday for the first time. She offered up the information that she has subbed in Laney's nursery class at church.

The thing is, other people have said this exact thing to me after they have babysat for me. All I have to say is hah! She is only that way if your name isn't Tiercy.

Basketball Try-ump

Today ended our short 2 game stint in the basketball tournament. (It was double elimination after all.) I have been playing basketball since the beginning of January with my ward. I am surprised because I have thoroughly enjoyed it. After the first game, I contemplated not playing because of the competitiveness it brought out in me. (I try really hard to temper that side of my personality.) But, I thought it would be a learning opportunity.

We lost every game but 1.

I think our team is a try-ump because we came to every game with a great spirit and perseverance. We almost always as a whole (once in awhile individuals would have a hard time) had a positive attitude and were determined to play better than the week before. A major coup for those of us who had to have things (why we got the foul called on us) explained to us at times.

I loved the look on Ty and Ethan's face each week when I would tell them that I lost. They couldn't believe it. I hope they remember this and remember that what matters is that you are having fun, not whether you are winning or losing.

A New Version of Love Notes

For Tyler's birthday, Steve and I decided to get him a desk for his room. It was a great decision! Not only does he now have a place to store all the stuff he collects, but it also came with a white board. At first, I didn't think much about it. But, I have since discovered that it is a great place to leave "Love" and "atta boy" notes for Tyler.

Here is an example of one. It reads:

Mom: Ty, Good job on getting your cavity filled!(heart) Mom

Ty: Mom, It didint hert that bad! (heart) Ty

[Sidenote: This was Ty's first cavity and I don't even think he realizes there was a shot involved! Don't you just love the 1st grade spelling = )]
